Creative H & I- exhibition: Wim Crouwel- A graphic odyssey at the Design museum, London

i have recently discovered the great design of Swiss modernism, a design movement from the 60's where simple graphics, colours and type were used in a strict grid system to form simple, powerful and aesthetically pleasing design. One of the the many great designers i found out about whilst researching the movement was dutch graphic designer and typographer Wim Crouwel. So to my delight when i heard the Design Museum were exhibiting a retrospective of his work, i traveled down to London to check it out. The exhibition was brilliant as i expected with the smaller and older works of Crouwel's a particular highlight as many of them i hadnt come across before, You can see through the distinct style of Crouwel's work, that he is a modernist to the core, his typefaces are simple, bold and to the point no matter what they express and there placement within the designs is inch perfect  using a strict grid system throughout his work to create hierarchy and order. My favourite works were his older poster designs, although they look dated by todays standards, its exactly what i was looking for by attending the exhibition, designed when the modernist movement was in full swing they are brilliantly simple  and quintessentially sixties modernist.
I would recommend the exhibit to anybody interested in graphic design, especially students as the Swiss modernist movement is the root of all modern graphic design and Will Crouwel is one of the movements best!
