Creative H & I- exhibition: Wildlife Photographer Year 2011 at the bristol museum

With a bit of time to spare Between lessons at queens road, i decided to go have a look around the Bristol museum which i visit regularly when in the area. I was surprised to my delight that Wildlife Photographer Year 2011 entries were being exhibited and the exhibition was FREE! The exhibition is being held until the 5th of June so get down there because you won't be disappointed, the pictures of the many creatures and landscapes of our natural world are awe inspiring no matter how small or big the subject matter is. My favourite image taken by Jochen Schlenker is an impressive landscape shot of the mountain peaks of the alps on a fine blue sky day, the whole landscape is mirrored perfectly symmetrical in a lake at running through the middle of the picture, by chance a lone mountain goat has wondered in to the shot silhouetted against the landscape completing the shot. The shot which seems like i couldn't have been staged any better then it has turned out won the category for "Animals in their environment".
Aswell as beautifully composed wildlife photographs, there were a number of thought provoking images on how man has abused the natural world. The image that really got me was an image of a turtle stuck in the nest of a fisherman, at first glance the image is perfect with turtle in the foreground stuck surrounded by brightly coloured vines and the colourful coral in the background, at second glance you realise that the turtle is not stuck in some brightly coloured vines but a fisherman's net and must clearly be in distress.
The exhibition is filled with wonderful images and is a must for anyone interested in photography or wildlife, aswell as the wider public.
